Final Week Stress Help

Image
Currently I am writing this blog during dead week, the week of stress and preparation for the hell week to follow. In five days, I will be doing nothing but exams and crying over the unknown answers and lack of time to cram in my last-minute studying. Luckily, because schools have been shut down for Corona, we all have an advantage this finals week. Unfortunately, we do still have the finals though and it still can be stressful. As the last two weeks of the semester start to fly by, you realize all the work you have put off till the last minute is getting in your way of studying for your exams.  My tip for last minute freak outs at the end of the semester is to PLAN. Sitting down with a blank piece of paper, planner, or calendar and simply figuring out what day things are due and what days you can do the work can make the stress nearly disappear. Looking at a long to do list versus breaking up the to do list into days and planning what time to do the work can definitely make a dif

Sophomore Year Excitement

Image
I’m already super excited for sophomore year next year! I’ve been planning the common space and bathroom with my roommate already. Luckily, we have the same style, so it’s made things pretty easy! In the sophomore dorms, we both get our very own (TINY) room and share a common space and bathroom with each other. Most of décor we will be making because both of us are into crafts and I love building things. I’ll be making a snack bar to put in the common space that will fit the mini fridge and the top counter will serve as a coffee station because we both love coffee. I’m also going to make a coffee mug holder to put on the wall above the snack bar.  We haven’t been able to think of much for the bathroom because the floor tiles are so ugly. We have to think of something to do to the bathroom to help them look a little more normal.     I’m way too excited about decorating my dorm room but even more excited to see all my friends again. Normally we just a measly three-month summer break

Freshman Year Recap

Image
My freshman year at Ohio Northern University was the best thing that I could ever ask for. Going in, of course I was very nervous, but after a while I realize that I couldn’t have picked a better home for myself for the next four years. Everything from the small village of Ada, to the wild football games, was like a perfect fit that I couldn’t have known would happen until it did.  My first friend at ONU was my roommate, Brynn. I’ve heard nothing but horror roommate stories, but I was blessed to have such an amazing roommate and now friend in my first year. My second group of friends came from the golf team. As a golfer, you would expect that my team and I would get along, but what you wouldn’t expect is how we’re actually more like a family. I would be willing to say that out of all the sports teams we are the closest and we spend the most time together. You can always find us at team din din in Mac at 5:00pm or hanging out in the golf lab in Kinghorn.  First semester

What Social Media Means to Me- The Bad

Image
I know this is an ironic post because as I’ve said before, this blog cite is one big project for my Social Media Principals class at Ohio Northern University. In my class, we learn how to use social media platforms in a professional way. However, we don’t talk about how kids my age actually uses the platforms. Social media to a teenager is everything, the likes, the comments and the views on a post can tear you down or build you up. For months, my platforms were on the rise and I felt on top of the world, but people do not realize that I am behind the screen. I am not a computer or a robot, even though you only see me through your electrical device.  In class we learned that an influencer is a relatable person, seen as trustworthy and has a good source of information. An influencer to me is looking in the mirror and realizing “they’re right, I’m not ‘That pretty’, maybe I do need more makeup, or to lose some weight”. An influencer to me is waking up, dreading to check your fol

Missing Loved Ones Pt.2

For this blog instead of writing about my grandmother like I did with my papa, I want to share something with you. When my Grammy passed away, the house was empty, and we had to completely clean everything out. When doing this, we found a journal that my Grammy was writing in and it was made for me. She Logged every time that we had hung out and talked about what we did and sometimes when she missed me, she would just write about me in it. I want to share the most important thing to me that she wrote.  Easter is my favorite holiday. I loved searching for eggs and as I got older my Grammy would make me super hard egg hunts and loved to watch me hunt for the eggs. The first Easter without her was Easter 2019 and I decided to opt out of the egg hunt that year because I couldn’t do it. It wasn’t until a few weeks before this Easter that I re-read the journal and realized she wrote me something very important:  “Getting ready for another Easter. I know you’re getting ready to grow

Missing Loved Ones Pt. 1

There are two people I miss most in the world. My Grammy and my Papa, my Grammy passed when I was 17 and my Papa passed when I was 15. In this Blog I will be talking about my Papa and in the part two, I will talk about my Grammy.             Ever since I was a baby, my Papa and I had a very special bond. He gave me the most special nickname I could ask for. He only ever called me “Gypsy” and there is a very funny reason why. When my mom and dad announced that my name was going to be Madylin, my Papa told them that he didn’t like it and that it was a gypsy name which is where the nickname started. For 15, my papa never called me Madylin or Mady, only Gypsy.              My Papa and I had many inside jokes, but my favorite was our sign language. For example, if you ever saw us in a public setting put our arms straight up in the air, with palms facing in, it meant we were bored.             One of my favorite things in this world is actually something he made. My papa loved

Top of My Bucket List

Image
Everyone has one thing they want to see or experience before they die. My number one bucket list item is staying the night on the Queen Mary Ship. The Queen Mary is a cruise ship from the 1930s to the 1960s and is now a floating haunted hotel in California. The Queen Mary is known as the most Haunted place in the US and one of the most haunted in the world.  I am a huge fan of creepy, spooky stuff and it’s no wonder that something like this would intrigue me so much. As a child I loved watching Ghost Adventures and now, my favorite movie is Coraline.  Staying on the Queen Mary has been a dream of mine for years and is something I will do before I die. I’ve seen my favorite YouTubers, Sam and Colby , do this and I was so jealous, and I think doing something like this for my own YouTube channel would be a lot of fun and something my viewers would enjoy a lot.  Before staying on the Queen Mary, I will probably start out by staying at other haunted locations such as the Sta
